Highlights-Madrid Day 4

I had a porra (jumbo churro) with my coffee this morning. While this is close to “I had gazpacho for lunch” territory, it is notable because Madrid is the only place I’ve seen them readily on offer. They are a gustatory pleasure (like anything fried in oil) best sampled lightly since they are so greasy. I had an experience that seems to plague my use of Google Maps while trying to find it. I did a maximum zoom on the location (which I knew from previous visits), yet it wasn’t displayed. Of course, you can find it with a name search, but I didn’t remember it (which defeats the utility of maximum zoom in this context). Apple Maps has the same defect, but I don’t use it internationally because its performance is intolerably bad (even when I only need it to be just below average). I did a four-hour sweep of El Prado. I no longer go during the two “free” hours at the end of the day because I get too tired from the standing in line beforehand. Besides, 7.50€ “old guy” admission is less than a skillet of paella.
